7 women biker belonging to different cities and professional. Have come together for a Pan-India motorbike ride to protect an image of India being a safe place for women. Covering an distance of 6000 KMs in 14 days. The women set out their bikes from Daman on 8 April and have already travelled through these cities. Udaipur, Delhi, Kanpur, Aurangabad, Kolkata, Bhuvneshwar, Vijayawada, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolhapur and Mumba. Their ride across India will be culminating on 21 April in Daman.

Telling us more about their bike ride, Sunita Kunjeer. Head of the biking group, said “Our group ladies of Harley has an International presence. The idea of this bike ride is to tell people internationally that India is a safe country for women. During this ride we will be travelling through the Golden Quadrilateral highway. With this ride we also want to celebrate the free spirit of women. And unite with like-minded people who have passion for bike riding.
 
Whats interesting is the age is just a number for an entire bike group. Sunita Mande a four-year-old biker said “Biking is all about the passion. By profession I am commercial artist. But, fell in love with biking it’s about the mental fitness rather than physical fitness.

Anushriya Gulati – Youngest Women Biker

The youngest member of the group of 24-year-old Anushriya Gulati from Dehradun. My maternal uncle was into biking. So, bikes were nothing new to me. Gradually, I also started riding bikes and participating in professional bike rides. My passion for biking was so strong that while studying in Leeds University. I traveled to India 11 times in a year to take part in various professional bike rides”, she said.
 
Facing several challenges en-route. The ladies said that the heat was their biggest challenges. Urvashi Desai said. – “While riding we have to wear all are riding gear. Which gets Uncomfortable in summer because it is already so hot in these days. Apart from that traffic in smaller cities also become challenge for us.
 
Another big challenge that these women faced during their journey. Have been the endless questions asked by people they meet en-route. Sherly George revealed. – “people ask endless question, but the best part is none of us faced any kind of harassment while riding on highway. This is what makes India a safe place for women.
